Hello Jim,
There is one thing of which the general public seems blithely
unaware...
High schools are rated, so the value of their diplomas is known.
Thus a potential employer can find out more about you than you think.
Look up the school and then require the job applicant to sign a
release of transcript.
Sure, but when I was a hiring manager I was also aware of the fact that kids usually don't have a choice where they live and thus where they can go to school. I just didn't place much emphasis on academic achievements, at least not for high schools since there was no exit exam. To me motivation and experience including hobbies mattered more. Still do.
