Sure, but when I was a hiring manager I was also aware of the fact that
kids usually don't have a choice where they live and thus where they can
go to school. I just didn't place much emphasis on academic
achievements, at least not for high schools since there was no exit
exam. To me motivation and experience including hobbies mattered more.
Still do.

That's why your _relative_ placement in _your_ school is what matters.

Plus most colleges have face-to-face interviews... I interview for MIT
here in the Ahwatukee / Chandler / Tempe / Mesa / cow-towns-to-the-
east-of-Phoenix areas of Arizona ;-)
