Re: Outsourcing squared

That reminds me... when my Mass Transfer professor had to go away on a
one-week trip, he had a guy from industry give talks to the class for
the two class sessions that he was away. This guy had some really
interesting examples of mass transfer and diffusion... one involved
calculation of aspirin concentrations in the stomach as a function of
space and time (nice partial differential equations there), and the
other involved cleaning up contaminated groundwater, if I recall
correctly...

We had an industry scientist sub as chemistry teacher for a year who had a difficult to understand Czech accent. This was the guy who instilled motivation back into most of us (including me). One of the best teachers I ever had. So was my English teacher from N'Orleans who had no German credentials (I went to school in Germany). As a kid she grew up speaking Cajun-French. So she also taught French.

You might establish relationships with professors at local colleges (UC
Davis might be closest for you) and see if you can speak as a guest at
some of the classes... if that floats your boat, that is.

Good idea. Although I'd have to do this professionally, in a paid situation because I can't consult while teaching.
