No pain, no pair gain?



Regarding my slow modem (dialup) connections (~21.6 kbps), I called the
phone company, and they said, yup, there's a pair gain system in place.


What are my options at this point, if I want faster internet (40 kbps
would be great!) ?

Or do I *have* to look at DSL at this point?
