Does this also happen with your news server? Mine is the
SBC-Global server in San Francisco and lately it seem to be
dropping whole message bodies once in a while. IOW it pulls the
message but there is no text in it.
My news-server does something similar now and again.
It is apparently due to a time delay between the headers
being available and the whole article appearing on the
news-spool.
This newsreader first reads the headers-index to build up
a list of article-ID's to download, then requests each
required full article from the news-spool.
That works ok most of the time, but if the time-delay
gets too large then some full articles have not arrived
on the spool at time of request and the log shows a
sequence of 'no such article' error messages.
The simple newsreader on this computer will never again
try to collect that error'd article body.
The newsreader over on the laptop is better, in that it
also reads the References lines in headers and can show
any missing articles, as black dots in the thread display.
This allows me to try backfilling all articles that are
shown as missing.
