Are you one of "those" who thinks that ASU == MIT ??
Bwahahahaha!
You're probably one of those I regularly see in design reviews...
"engineers" that I chew up and spit out just to keep in shape ;-)

The school is what you make of it- if you let the school "make" you, the
results will be disappointing. I'm not sure what the purpose of
classroom "teaching" is, and it doesn't seem to work very well. Anyone
who cannot handle self-education at the college level does not belong
there, the classroom should be for discussion and not unilateral
dictation of rote crap. Lectures are for the birds.
I like the MIT model of teaching only fundamental skills... no
application specifics, you have to find those yourself.
Since I worked as a technician while going to school I had the best of
worlds... fundamentals plus hands-on.

Yeah, I was designing modems while I was taking the course in
communications theory, and designing servos and utility supervisory
controls while I was taking electrical machinery courses. The real
revelations pretty much slipped past the other guys, who just couldn't
differentiate the good stuff from the rest. I didn't even study for
the machinery courses and had a test average around 70, against the
class average of about 15!
The Tulane EE department very much disapproved of students having
outside jobs, or wives... they figured we should devote 100% of our
attention to the course work. Nobody could understand my senior
project so they gave me a A by default.
John
I simply HAVE to see a copy of your senior project.
