'Nimitz' size? You wish - they were originally supposed to be roughly
half that size, then got cut down some more for budgetary reasons.

They never had a Nimitz style gross tonnage but the overall dimensions
were
pretty similar.

That means the JSF is too big and heavy to be carried on them, so with
the demise of the Harrier we finish up with a 'bomb magnet' that can't
even deploy the aircraft it was designed for.

Where did you hear the JSF won't fit on them ? No point in even having
carriers
otherwise !

IIR the original gross tonnage was less than half a Nimitz class.
Have you seen one of those ships? We had one come visit the Firth of
Forth, it could not even get under the rail and road bridges. Rosyth is
upstream of the bridges, so, no, the new carriers are not similar in
dimensions.
