You can do that with a PDF (and Word) file without deleting. Choose
'Print...' from the 'File' menu. In the 'Pages' pane, just enter '1,7',
without the ' '.

Yes, I can see how that can work in Word, but the Acrobat
dialog is different, I don't see any way to do that.
