Here is an odd question.
I am an artist working on a project using old printed circuit boards
from discarded electronics.
Are there any health risks associated with them. The extent of what I
am doing with them is drilling holes and cutting (producing dust from
whatever they are made out of). Is there any thing that I should be
worried about chemically? I have no idea what goes / went into making
PCBs.
Thanks,
Matthew
Mostly just lead from the solder and fiberglass dust (some risk of it
being carcinogenic). Nothing much else on most boards is dangerous,
including most components (a very rarely do they contain mercury, BeO
or other nasties). Keep a clean shop, wear a respirator where dust is
being generated and wash your hands before handling food and you
should be okay.
