A government needs armed forces to enforce, as a last resort, its
decisions.

That would make people resent the wonderful world government, and cause lots of terrorist acts by groups that feel threatened or mistreated.

Yes; a few people resent the US government, but it survives. Not 'lots' of terrorist acts; rare occurrences.

See above: I don't think that will happen. Apart from the armed forces
aspect, there are thousands of problems that should be tackled but are
not being, but could be if the World Government would fund them.

Apparently, if the are not important enough funded now, they wouldn't be important enough to fund after the change. Why would they? they would control everything, whether you liked it, or not.

What leads you to that conclusion?

Human nature. A world government couldn't keep their moths shut about how great everything is, and that will make people demand total equality. Greed is part of a lot of peoples view of life. :(

A-greed; we have to recognize that and work round it.

That was the flaw in the original, idealistic Communism ('From each
according to his ability, to each according to his need.')[1] and the
early Christian church, together with (almost?) every venture to
eliminate personal property. You can't change human nature.

What makes you think it won't devolve into the same mess?

Only hope!
