In the US, if an officer decides he can't follow orders, his option is
to resign... same as in civilian life, mostly. Disobeying military
orders can be a capital offense.

I see no evidence of failure to follow orders here.

In the UK, isn't a military officer's public condemnation (or even
criticism) of military actions called for by his superior officers
considered treasonous?
