No, I'm short, reasonably fit, and, according to the objective
judgement of my wife, "adorable." Her eyesight is worse than mine,
which is why I married her.

Actually, I'm blessed with a perfectly innocuous appearance.


Deep down, I know you're right of course.
Normally I'd expect the low pass filtering action of assimilation and
integration to work it's magic. Seems no longer the case. Significant
cultural divergence is being called for by religious leaders. Key theme
seems to be the wholesale rejection of decadent, degenerate, UK moral
values. Maybe they're right, maybe I'd agree, there does seem an awful lot
more white trash about now and it would seem teenagers can aspire to nothing
more than pop music and celebrity.
Normal stuff though, I'm sure, these same things grumbled about by all
generations.
What concerns me is the suicide bomber that lived a couple of miles away.
Are we such bad people?. Is the taxi driver that lives round the corner, who
I have interesting chats with, being turned into a maddog jihadist?.
A couple of generations and surely we'll all be back on course but what'll
be the final body count?.

For the last few million tears, humanoids have mostly struggled to
survive. Technology (delivered by us, the engineers) has created
astonishing productivity, enough that 4% of us farm, 10% of us make
things, and the rest can hang out in cafes flirting over
Bluetooth-equipped phones. Some people consider the values-less,
purpose-less, religion-less, love-kids-marriage-less party life to be
a sterile abomination, which feeling I can certainly appreciate.

I think that "western" culture will eventually win over most of the
kids. Invest in Starbucks.
