We always draw our own parts. The stuff in the standard PADS library
is just too ugly. We also have our own symbols for things like mosfets
and schottky diodes that are, to me, more intuitive and readable than
the accepted stuff.

I've had plenty of arguments with PCB layout guys along the lines of, "Look,
it's clear that if we make this addition to the footprint, there'll be less
likelihood of error when the part is loaded, and it just plain looks better."
The response is often, "I've been doing PCB for xx years, and I've never seen
boards done that way, so clearly that way must be wrong." @#$#$!%#$

(In general I try to always make it obvious where pin 1 is and then -- if the
part is big enough to allow it -- I'll put a schematic drawing of what the
part is inside the silkscreen outline.)

Feel free to put up more of your own PCB layouts on ABSE; I've learned a few
things from looking at the ones you've put up in the past.
