In LA they have "banzai runners", guys who do the freeways late at
night at 160 MPH.

My previous PCB layout guy was a speed freak. He'd drive for hours to
find lonely roads upstate where he could drive his car at 150 or so.
In the city, he did it on motorcycles, so he was fairly often working
in a cast. I wonder if he's still alive.

It can be worse: A SW guy who used to work at a client is a base jumper.
They don't just jump off bridges but he also did one into a deep cave.
Your free-fall steering has to be perfect and the chute must open
impeccably. The error tolerance between smooth sail and death is
measured in milliseconds or so. I've done parachute jumps myself but
that stuff I wouldn't think about in my wildest dreams.

I've never seen the point of jumping out of a perfectly functioning aircraft
myself ! I'll happily get my adrenaline rushes elsewhere.

But it's absolutely fun!
