I grew up in New Orleans. It is, as they say, a great place to be
from.
Do you still have the accent from there? One of my English teachers was from New Orleans. Grew up speaking Cajun French, was taught (with a stick) not to speak that in school but always kept a wee twang.
BTW, the other English teacher was from Kentucky ...
