Re: Smart Pill for Boosting Electronics Design Performance

There's some very intelligent people on here and I wonder if it's
partly due to lifestyle...

Are electronic designers getting exercise and eating "mentally"
healthy foods to stay mentally sharp?

Congatulations, the first step is to realize something has to be done. But a
pill won't help.
Right, it is the lifestyle, if you want to call it so.
And it doesn't require that much of intelligence either to be an engineer,
as can be seen here on SED.
It requires instead to study the basics, for example in some
school/university. Additionally it requires an interest/motivation to
continuously follow the current development and to deepen or specialize your
knowledge in certain areas reading books and collecting information.
Without intimate basic knowledge you cannot evaluate new information.
And the second most important point is your personal experience.

Also....
I did some reading long ago on attention span... IIRC it matches the
duration of TV shows..about 45 minutes.
I sometimes hack on the same circuit for hours.. But I have to wonder
about my mental performance during those hours...
Maybe it was best during the first 45minutes?

This is the result of growing up with the TV. It is only a habit. On your
Playstation you go on for hours forgetting even to eat and smoke, it *is*
possible!

How do you stay sharp?

I would advise you to pull out the plug of the TV as a beginning. Then every
45 min, or whenever the attention strives away, instead of rolling a joint
or eating snacks, take a walk, play with the kids, play basket in the yard,
whatever.
And instead of typing all what comes into your mind to show off your ego,
study all those books recommended here on SED
