That would be about right to hold Iraq. Pulling it back from the mess
it has been allowed to turn into would take many more.

Afghanistan was doable. Iraq never was. Invading Iran will make is a total
disaster.


It still may be without invading Iran. If the US doesn't get its
troops out of Iraq fairly quickly, it will be stuck for the long term
attempting to manage a failed state.
