My theories on marketing and consumer psychology......
The CPU is hidden in a box. A sticker on the box shows people what's
inside .."Ahhh there's an Intel inside". Less mystery..more comfort..
The clever marketing is that AMD or other, do not have "AMD Inside
stickers".

Mine does, but I had to stick it on myself - it was packed with the
Athlon 64 CPU/heatsink assembly.

Ok ok... I give...my statement implied that AMD stickers don't exist
is completely wrong..(I was working with some plastic solvents when I
wrote that.. :)
But was there a time I was right?
Wasn't it Intel that started the CPU case sticker thing?
Then AMD followed?
Or did both companies do the same at the same time?

I might put the Intel sticker on if it had:
"Intel Hyperthreading Quad Core Inside"
Just to show off..
