Only, you are not telling us the facts of the matter.

Don't use one for protection either (Tony Martin) or you will end up in
jail, while the bad guy roams free.
Tony Martin shot a kid in the back who was running away.
Now isn't there?
There's a heck of a lot. I know. A 'friend' of mine (jailed for a firearms
offence) met Martin in jail in fact. He said he was a sad case who got himself
there through his own stupidity. The facts of the matter stand though and that's
why Martin was jailed. For murder.
There is still more to the story.
Why not?
BTW, since when are you required to give a bad guy a fair fight?
You're not. That doesn't mean you can shoot someone in the back though.
Am I required to wait for the bad guy to take cover before firing?
How stupid can you be?
There is no reason to give a crook a fair shake.
If you don't see that you have become more a sheeple that I thought
possible. Are your eyes migrating to the sides of your head yet?
So, he could return to finish the job?
In the end, a bad guy got caught doing bad guy things, and got shot.
Is there a problem with that?
Yes. The 'in the back running away' part.
I have no problem with the fact that a CRIMINAL got shot, in the back or
otherwise. Sure he was running away, Mr. Martin finally got fed up and
got his gun. All of those ass whippings his mamma never gave him
finally added up to one gunshot wound.
You are forgetting to mention the fact that these guys had victimized
him over and over again, the police had been called over and over again,
and nothing had stopped the bad guys, UNTIL he shot them.
Jim
