Not 25 times. ***46 times*** more !

Overall murder rate is about 3 times that of the UK (roughly on both stats).

If you remove the US gun murders the murder rates become similar.

My conclusion is very simple. The 'excess rate' in the USA is entirely due to the ready availability
of guns which allow things like momentary rages and loss of personal control to easily result in
killing. Not to mention the criminal use too of course.

1,000 is 27 times more than 0.00102579 per 1,000 people per the site
referenced. Are you exaggerating or smoking crack?


And 3 times the murder rate overall, same source. But it seems to show
that people are more than willing to use another method to kill
someone.

However, I wonder in the US how many people successfully defended
themselves from a crime with a handgun (and I bet those are reflected
as "murders" erroneously)? A crime that in the Third World, or at
least the UK's part of it, would have gone off without a hitch.
