It has not been the recommended procedure. So obviously not that
the poster is *strongly* encouraged to learn the technology before
posting speculations. That fire risk should be in capital letters for
two reasons. 1) Because it is technically accurate. 2) Because
others did not first learn those charts that relate battery voltage to
percent charged.
Budgie - did you notice which battery technologies have voltage
*reduction* as they become fully charged? That sentence alone says
why fire is so dangerous for batteries that are not NiCd or Lead acid
technologies. That chart is why a computer is necessary for
recharging Lithium and other new technology batteries.
What is necessary to recharge Lithium batteries? Basic engineering
grasp. That means first learning the theoretical concepts. Then
learning from existing manufacturer designs. Without theoretical
knowledge and practical examples, building a lithium battery charger
is a threat to human life - including a potential for explosion. Tone
of this post reflects the threat to human life.
