Sound cards contain really nice chips. Where else could you get 18-20bit
conversion for next to nothing? But the problem is an almost total lack
of documentation. My old boss used to say "If you didn't document it
then it didn't happen."

But SFDR is the name of the game, not the number of bits.
The advantage to real test equipment is the synchronized source. It
takes windowing out of the picture. The HP3562 correlates to ATE
nicely, while the fancier AP boxes don't.
By "AP" are you referring to Audio Precision Boxes?
