Hi, James,

Have you noticed the remarkable, virtually worldwide, correlation of
anti-Americanism with engineering incompetance? It makes sense when
you think about it.

Hola John,

a) Hollywood and the press don't help. Once America-boosters, now
they're against. Marketing works.

b) Corrupt governments seem to be the leading cause of world
poverty, and f(l)ailing governments love to blame external parties for
their failings. Big as we are, we're awfully convenient.

c) I think it all goes back to global warming, truthfully. The
President diss'd Kyoto, our European friends felt slighted, and, ever
since, he can't win.

Mr. Clinton was more diplomatic: he paid Kyoto lip service, but
never submitted it to the Senate since--with 95 senators opposed--he
knew it wasn't ratifiable.

Meanwhile, the US' total CO2 output fell last year. Has anyone
noticed? I thought not.

Cheers,
James Arthur
