We can all spend some time searching. Download Google
Earth, and start looking. http://earth.google.com/

The sighters were looking too close to the little airstrip in Smith
valley. I looked at Google's new images, further to the east at
39 23 23.82N 117 57 35.12W Should I report this location?

Google is already in on the search:

Fossett is probably dead. The emergency locator transmitter beacon can be activated manually as well as by a crash. The pilot can also disable it to prevent accidental activation during acrobatic maneuvers in the Bellanca. Any way you look at it, it's not a good sign that they haven't picked up this beacon. That little plane can really pull some g's, maybe he was playing around, suffered a heart attack, passed out, crashed hard and burned.
