I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but somewhere in that period of time I
discovered 4DOS which solved a lot of the annoyances in moving, say, 20 out of
30 files from one directory to another. Drag and drop file management
certanily is handy, though.

Hmm... 4DOS says it came out in 1988/1989... although I probably wasn't using
it until ~1992. The first version of DOS I used was around 2.11 (released in
1983, it says, but I was using it much later); the first version I remember
purchasing myself was version 4 in 1988/9.
