Hello
I'm working on a networking equipment box project which has 3x V.24
ports.
In routine use , this box will comm. with 3 different USART devices.
(DTE<->DCE configuration)
But customer wants to connect two of our boxes to each other without
the need of a different cable and connector. (DTE<->DTE configuration)
If we were allowed to use null modem cable , there will be no problem
but since we are not allowed we must somehow change the pin
assignments.
Has any of you faced this kind of problem ? and what action you
take ?

:) Thanks , it's patented
I have another question if you would mind..
Who generates the clocking signals in sync. communication(say it's
SDLC/HDLC)
What I mean is , if i'm the DTE device , should I expect TXCLOCK and
RXCLOCK from DCE device ? And what would be the connection like ?
DTE DCE
------- -------
TXCLK<->RXCLK
RXCLK<->TXCLK
or
DTE DCE
------- -------
TXCLK<->TXCLK
RXCLK<->RXCLK
Regards
.
