The suit had nothing to do with the drives themselves. It was over
Seagate claiming that they had about 7% more drive capacity than the
drives actually delivered.

I've been dealing with various drive manufacturers for many years and
find Seagate to be the least disgusting of the horde, with far fewer
failures than the other manufacturers. However, I've given the same
praise to other manufacturers at various times, only to have some bean
counter go on a cost reduction jihad and wreck the quality or
survivability. So, for this week, Seagate is the best, but good
things never seem to last.
