Mmm... maybe. I still have a PCB layout guy who argues with me whenever I
suggest that having two identical connectors side by side -- and knowing that
getting the cables swapped will kill the board -- is a Bad Idea. His rebuttal
is always something about anyone "dumb enough" to plug the connectors in wrong
deserves to have their PCB die.
I expect there's plenty of that same sentiment around when it comes to any
control systems, even nuclear reactors. :-(
That was pretty much one of the lessons that was learnt at TMI.
