Your idea of worldwide peace and prosperity is kind of strange - in
practice "no government"  really means government by the local criminal
gangs. The "protection racket" theory of government says that the
government is just the biggest protection racket in town, but even so,
getting rid of the biggest protection racket in town just means that
whoever was previously number two in the pecking order just takes their
place.

Yabbut, organized crime is at least honest about their motives -
they're in it for the money, plain and simple.

Big government is driven by ideology.

They claim to be driven by ideology, which isn't quite the same thing.
You've got to be pretty naive to think that Dubbya is dedicated to
propagating democracy, when his closest ally in Asia is Pervez
Musharraf who came to power via a military coup

Dubbya isn't the first US president who pays lip service to democracy
- In general, US foreign policy has always shows a preference for non-
democratic governments who heads of states will do what the U.S. wants
at the time - Saddam Hussein was an earlier example, until he started
getting ideas of his own.
Franco and Salazar were less ambitious.

I'd rather pay my protection money to the Mafia than to Big
Governemnt. When the Mafia gets their money, they go away.
When Big Government gets your money, they just keep hounding
you and legislating morality and other insane crap like that.

True, but if the Mafia weren't number two, they would probably be just
as bad.

But, you seem to be addicted to the proposition that government
control is better than freedom, which is wrong.

Not as insane as the idea that you have freedom without some some form
of collective defence, involving an organisation that looks very like
a government.

But, like all addicts, your denial prevents you from seeing
the facts.

Funny that you should say that. What form of colletive defence do you
have in mind for your "free society"?

When people are truly Free, there is no need for "protection".

On the other hand to do need umbrellas for protection from the
excretions of the pigs flying around overhead. All cooperative
societies need protection from free-loaders - claiming that "true
freedom" eliminates this problem isn't entirely credible.
