DC-3 was designed to land with a Tank inside on an unprepared field.
That's a safety margin right there.
It sounds like you're talking about the C-47, the military variant
which was developed after[1] the DC-3 civilian version was flying.
How did they propose to get the tank inside the aircraft?
(No ramps on anything with its own engines until what??--the C-97?)
