Standards it may help getting your kit accepted eslewhere inasmuch as most
likely you've already done most of the work required.
IEC Standards are used WORLDWIDE, not just Europe.

CE will require the application of various standards and regulations,
not all of which are coordinated to an IEC standard. If there's a
North American version similar to the standard applied, it will cut
paperwork.
Once you step outside of mainstream commercial apps, the likelihood of
finding a IEC-coordinated standard in North America is not guaranteed.
The existence of IEC-coordinated standards in North America is driven
solely by market demand.
