Could well be. I was going for the *free* angle.
Having the CD delivered to your door--still gratis--is so cool.
Xubuntu doesn't offer that;
you have to download a CD's worth and burn your own.
As Baer hasn't figured out how to use a download manager
with a Resume capability and download in the wee hours,
that's a non-starter for him.
As long as I was pointing to a ship-it page,
Kubuntu (again: resource-intensive) might have been more obvious.
A lot of former Windoze Weenies find the transition to KDE
to be more natural than to GNOME (Ubuntu).
It also has a mailed-to-you-free CD.
