I wonder if it's time to ease up or do we have to ditch gmail for good?
Matter of fact, I've been seeing less stuff falling into my filters. Today
only ~30%. Checking, it looks like "@gmail.com" isn't being used anymore
(the usual @replica.cn and yahoo.cn sorts of stuff seem to be most
popular).

Thanks. Maybe open the gates again but block the cn domain? Not nice
since that's a whole country but what else can one do :-(

State in your sig file what areas you are blocking. That way, if they
really want to contact you on the group they can find another way.

I already do. For personal email gmail is not blocked (yet) but my ISP has recently adopted a pretty aggressive strategy in hosing off spam. There are maybe five to ten a day now, caught by my own spam filter. This used to be 100 until about the time when Google allowed NG spam flooding. Maybe it began flooding email accounts as well. By now Google has allowed the reputation of their email service to reach bottom. They did not listen and now it's too late to fix.

"gmail" domain blocked because of excessive spam.
Use another domain or send PM.
