Since what I wrote was "the ice caps will slide off Greenland and
Antarctica" one would have thought that even someoe as intellectually
challenged as Michael Terrell should have realised that I wasn't
talking about about floating, but rather about ice that is piled miles
high on top of solid bedrock.

The ice in the centre of Greenland and Antarctice is getting THICKER. It's not
'sliding' anywhere sunshine.

The ice in the centre of Greenland and Antarctic may well be getting
thicker, but the ice all around it is sliding off towards the ocean,
just as it always has, and apparently appreciably faster than it used
to.

Where do you think icebergs come from? They calve off the coast of
Greeland and Antarctica, from the ice that has slid sideways off the
rocky landscape underneath.

Furthermore, the panic over the melting of floating ice shelves is bogus since
these don't cause sea level to rise.

But they do hold back the glacial flow off the ice cap, and when that
ice hits the water, seal levels will rise.
