Disappointed in the group -- Re: More Gore

I find it surprising that much of the s.e.d readership seems to act as if the
idea of global climactic effects from human activity is so clearly disproven
that even asking the question can be taken as proving the asker to be
1) idiotic
2) completely uneducated
or
3) shilling for something or someone
and therefore responses can be blow-off forms of flaming attack.
I asked if people critizing Gore and his video had actually watched the video
and what happens?
Well just look at the thread ... Just raise the question of whether criticism
is based on knowledge and I'm attacked as all sorts of things.
Guys, this is not what I expect of s.e.d, with a few exceptions not to be named,
on topics with scientific content.
I'm truly disappointed -- I thought most of you were better than flaming
people for asking reasonable questions.
And, Jim, you win the "pompous" thing. I never claimed anything in this
thread based on my association with MIT, let alone my PhD -- you brought
all that up. It's your issue, not mine:

I'm sorry to have to tell you, Jim, that my respect for you has
been diminished. I thought you were honorable, and could disagree
with someone in a respectful manner. You have disillusioned me
of that.
Whether "global warming" is a real issue or not I am not sure. But
flaming attacks will never convince me of some positions correctness.
I am now a smidge more considering that global warming may actually
be real -- because of the pitiful emotional diatribes issued here.
If you all really had better scientific evidence against it, I
suspect that at least one of you would have trotted it out -- instead
of emotionalism, misdirection, tub-thumping and welkin-ringing
denouncements (and references to "underage porn").
Just what I would have expected from a sales-geek or Congress-critter,
not from suppposed technoratis.
Well, guys, enjoy your flame fest. Have funn with the Gore bashing.
Since there is no content here, I think I'll just leave.
Sincerely
Kevin
