Oh, yeah - what website?????
http://www.abiengr.com
Thanks,
Rich
My browser: FF2
Sorry, I'll only list the bad.
1. I'm not a fan of frames. The use of frames is frowned upon these
days.
2. The top banner shouldn't be a frame. It has a scroll bar which
makes the page look funny. If the browser window is too narrow, you
get a horizontal scroll bar.
3. The top banner, IMO, shouldn't have a background image. I don't
like backgrounds in general since they mostly make the page harder to
read. The top banner is also larger than I can for.
4. Your link buttons should indicate which page you're currently on.
5. I don't understand the free search engine links. I was expecting to
search your site.
6. You have your email address in the clear. Any bot will pick that up
and start spamming your sales email. If you make the email thing a
java script, it might thwart bots. It's been effective on our company
web page, plus, we don't use "sales" as this is a dictionary term for
spam bots. Perhaps ABIsales might be better if you're worried about
spam. Here's the email-to script:
<script language=javascript type="text/javascript">
<!--
var user = "sales"
var domain = "abiengr.com"
document.write("<A
href="+"mail"+"to:"+user+"@"+domain+">"+user+"@"+domain+"</A>")
//-->
</script>
If you're worried about people with js turned off, have an alternate
with the email address posted as an image. If they have js turned on,
they get a clickable link, no js, they see an image.
7. Your not using CSS. It will take a couple hours to figure out. Once
you do, you'll appreciate what it has to offer. I do all my CSS by
hand (no silly web page generators). Just beware of IE6. IE6 has poor
support of CSS. Since you're targeting a modern audience, 99.999% of
your customers will have a modern web browser.
8. "Back to top" link is unnecessary. Your pages aren't long enough to
warrant using it.
9. The overall balance of the page is not pleasing. It might have
something to do with the frames and too much grey.
10. I hate "mission statements"! Same with "Goals" in resumes. It
always makes me laugh when I see a goal statement in a resume. How
come they never say they want a pay check.
11. Tables are wonderful formatting aids. Proper use of tables can get
rid of frames unless you want your link buttons to stay put.
12. Otherwise, it conveys what you intended. One thing I don't see
overtly is size capabilities, like micro to humongous. Can you do a
itty bitty part, or do you guys only do larger items? You say you can
do engineering. What sort of engineering capabilities do you have?
Simulators? Types of engineering expertise?
13. Who is Mustang Engineering? Perhaps a link to their page and how
they are associated with you.
14. Thank you for not using Flash! Flash is only good for playing
movies and games. If you ever want to put movies on the site, visit
http://flowplayer.org/ for a simple way of doing this. No Flash
development tools required. Flash is the best way of putting up movies
these days.
15. The page doesn't pass lint.
http://validator.w3.org/
I think your use of XHTML for the doc type causes lots of problems.
Probably HTML 4.01 Transitional will work for your page since you have
a basic page (a good thing).
16. Some of your pictures are poor quality. One was converted from a
GIF or a video grab. Over time, replace the poor quality ones. It
doesn't reflect well on your company. People in your pictures are good
as it gives a reference to the impressive size of objects you guys
handle.
