Who dunnit?
It's a Fairchild synchronous switcher, actually a very nice part
electrically.

They did an eval board, but it didn't work (!) so they'll have to spin
it. So the sample is untestable.

I think we'll go with the National TSSOP-20 equivalent, with a single
power pad on the bottom. This Fairchild thing would be a nightmare to
rework.

I've started seeing a number of parts with multiple, funny-shaped
power pads on the bottom.

Ahhh...it's 0.65mm pitch. No big deal unless you've got a bad case of presbyopia and can't even see 0.100" pitch parts and have to carry around an effing magnifying glass everywhere you go and have started wearing reading glasses and can't believe you're no longer twenty years old and get PISSED OFF everytime you start to think about it!!!

Time to get a red sports car and matching girlfriend?
I got the sports car (280Z) when I turned 47. Now (at 68) I drive a
pick-em-up truck ;-)

I bought an Austin-Healey Sprite, $2085 new, when I was 20, and got
that out of my system. Now, I can't understand why anybody would buy
anything but a hatchback.

Saw an elderly lady at Costco. She bought a used Austin Healey Coupe in 1961 and still drives it today. Her first car and most likely also her last. Said she'd probably sell it for more than she paid even when adjusted for inflation once she decides to quit driving. I guess that woman must be the automotive industry's nightmare.
