Brings up a question: In my case (Firefox) most PDF show up right in the
browser, some others randomly go the download path. What gives? It seems
pretty much willy-nilly.
Same here. However, I have a partial fix for Firefox. See:
<http://www.pdfdownload.org>
It gives quite a bit of control over what to do with a PDF.

Also, in Firfox, make sure the default download action is to ask
what to do next, not dump it in the default download dumpster folder.

Tools -> Options -> Main -> Always ask me where to dump files.

I've got that checked. But it sometimes, maybe 5% of cases, decides to
open in Acrobat and not in Firefox. That's usually when things crash
since Acrobat is the SW that crashes the most here in the office, by far.

Aha! You need to configure Firefox to use Adobe Reader to open PDF's.

I don't like Adobe products. Too many crashes. Heck, I don't even like
adobe brick. We have that all around the yard and it crumbles.

Well then, stop whining, you get the performance you pay for ;-)

Thanks anyway, Jim, even if you ARE one step to the right of Attila the Hun
{;-)
Then he'd have to be a lifetime NRA member :-)
Lifetime regular membership is $1,000. However, they offer a 65+
senior discount which reduces it to $375. Since regular membership is
$35/hr, if one is over 65, and plans on living past 75, then lifetime
membership might be a good investment.

But there will come a point where you can't hold the rifle steady
anymore ;-)

Want to try your luck? It was WV (and KY) c'untry boys who were
chosen for sniper duty in 'Nam. Climb a tree with a silenced rifle
and pick 'em off at 1000 yards ;-)

I am too old for that, mainly the climbing part.

By the time I was 13 I could hit a squirrel 100' away, running fast,
perpendicular to the line between us, without actually sighting
(22LR); and I'm pretty good with a pistol as well ;-)

My basic training
happened a long time ago but the first words from our drill sergeant
still ring in my ears. "ATTEEEEEN ... SHUN! This ain't gonna be a cake
walk. As civilians you came, as men you will leave. Do you understand?"
... "Yes, Sir." ... "I CANNOT HEAR YOU!" ... "YESSS, SAH!"
