there are news items that point to an over production of FLASH memory,
and losses for Sandisk for example, and them reducing investment in new
factories to prevent further over production.
So if you need FLASH then you should be able to negotiate a good price.
Wait a couple of years and see how easy it'll be.

The other issue is whether a cheap laptop, OLPC or one of those
things, needs a terabyte of disk. If 8G of flash is enough, why buy a
hard drive?
We got one of those cute little eeps's (or something like that) for
about $300, for use around the lab. It runs XP out of flash.
The only reason people need more than around 40GB is games and media files (esp video).
