Backup? Wouldn't the money be spent more wisely on RAID storage? Same

There is a very good chance the TV stations are using stock footage.
In the business that, or 35 mm slides were used in what was termed
'Actualities', meaning the report was live, but the visuals were
whatever was available from their library. BTDT, and repaired lots of
damaged slides.
