Obviously, any model can become unrealistic. That doesn't mean that
you can't get good information out of models, merely that you have to
be careful. The IPCC is being pretty careful.
Careful? As in the case of the hockeystick curve?
The hockey-stick data wasn't a model, but rather the ineptly-filtered
presentation of raw data. Mann certainly screwed up, because he didn't
understand exactly how his filtering procedure worked. Even there, the
peer-reviewing process finally worked and his curves were eventually
discredited.
Wasn't that the guy who supposedly didn't want to release raw data? So
far for an organization being "careful".
And the person who discovered the mistake is the AGW-despised Steve McIntyre
(who was a peer reviewer for them at the time). Refused the raw data, he
'reverse engineered' somehow the figures and found the flaw.http://www.climateaudit.org/?page_id=354

Yet Mann's fraudulent and now discredited graph is a central plank of Gore's
comic film and much of all the AGW alarmism worldwide.

You do go out of your way to post ignorant and unsupportable
misconceptions.

Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" grew out of his 1992 book "Earth in the
Balance" which still reads very well, and considerably predates Mann's
paper.

I have that book. Appeals to emotion, brimming with errors of fact
and logic. And hate. It's absolute mindtrash. Beneath contempt.

Best regards,
James Arthur

E.g., the first phrase random selection offers:
"What a striking contrast between the awesome power and efficiency our economic system displayed in its philosophical rout of Marxism-Leninism and the abject failure of the same system to even take note of the poisoning of our water, the fouling of our air, the destruction of tens of thousands of living species every year. We make billions of economic choices every day, and the consequences are bringing us steadily closer to the brink of ecological catastrophe." (pg. 185)
