First of all, there's enough oil in the EXISTING lease areas to affect
prices.

Only Democrats say that.

Well think about it......
If we don't open up new leases, we still drill in existing leases.
Prices don't change appreciably, even as we continue to drill existing
leases.

So just up production on those existing leases (many of which are un-
tapped, by the way).
Instead of drilling them tomorrow, drill them today.
Why drill new?

And first of all, new leases don't even pass the sniff test.
It's just a land grab. (or in this case, undersea grab).
Get permission now while the getting's good. Nevermind you won't see
that oil for years.

I can appreciate the need for energy forecasting, but I'm not
convinced a land grab is the best way to go about energy policy. We
don't need a course correction, we need to change where we are
heading.

Do you have a problem with NO foreign oil by 2020?

...Jim Thompson

I do. Why tap out all our oil. Drain the foreign sources and leave
some of ours for the lean years.

We do need to start up on our U.S. oil projects soon. The
infrastructure is so far behind that pumping more oil is useless since
we lack the refinery facilities (California being a modest example)
and the midwest lacks means of conveying oil from their massive
reserves (Bakkan). The Gulf is a mess, a disaster waiting to happen.
As one oil company told us, "Why should we use your sonars. If we
can't see a problem, we don't need to fix it".

BTW, I like high gas prices too. Means more business for our company.

Need another chip ?:-)

American English usage has many irregularly declined nouns
For example, Democrat is the pluperfect form of ignoramus
