So then why did you suggest that Charlie was right? This seems like a
major tactical error on your part. It was a little like suddenly
referring to UFOs in hanger 19 when arguing about aircraft. It
damages your credibility. Charlie asserted that Obama claimed it
would save millions of barrels per day. No matter how many faults you
may find with Obama I assume you will agree that Obama isn't dumb
enough to make a statement like that.
Hi Moosie,
Sorry, but are trying to say that "Obama didn't say that, he meant
some other drilling." And that all his supporters and the media
analysts had somehow 'misinterpreted' his words that you, as a
superior analyst of the candidates position, correctly understand?
No I am saying that you are misstating what he said and then making
fun of your misstated version. Obama never claimed a million barrels
a day. This is something you just made up.
Sorry, it don't work that way. His statement, repeated for several
days in several venues, was that inflating tires would save more oil
than drilling for more oil in all those venues McCain had asked for
would. Statement is untry, unsupportable, and was designed to make
everyone who went out and just inflated their tires feel good, like
they had done something for their country.
Oh! So now you are dropping the million barrels a day and trying fly
that change by me. Are you now willing to admit that you were wrong
in that claim?
Now, is inflating your tires to the correct pressure a good thing? Of
course it is. Are there people out there running on underinflated
tires? Sure there are! However, there aren't THAT many of them!
There are millions of them. A significant fraction of tires are
running at the wrong air pressure.
And, how many people will be killed and injured when they go out and
OVERINFLATE their tires in their messianic zeal? How many people will
these mislead zealots take out when their tires blow out on the
freeway? How much gas will be wasted in the traffic tie ups? How may
tires will have to be replaced prematurely?
Now you are trying to throw up a smoke screen. You were wrong in your
claim. The smoke screen won't help. You just need to admit the
error.
Nope, don't change my mind or my statement. As I replied in another
thread, it looks like you Obamaniacs are back pedaling and trying to
rewrite you candidates position when it was exposed as incorrect.
Also, a SIGNIFICANT percentage, that is a good, hard statistic! NOT!
What value, 2%? 10%? 20%? And, what amount of oil will be saved by
some number of them getting their tires correctly inflated? It is
just another SWAG presented as fact to make political hay!
And the smoke screen is no such thing, but a very legitimate concern.
An underinflated tire just uses a little extra gas, but an
overinflated tire can be a major safety hazard. And if you think all
the Obamaniacs are smart enough not to overinflate their tires, then
might I also interest you in a controlling interest in a New York City
bridge I just happen to have... ;-)
