This claim needs a supporting site. Here is what he really did
say in the later case.

No it is called McCain lieing about what Obama really said and
then making fun of it.

Ok, the quote was "You could save as much as they say they can get
from drilling...", so, How much did they say they could get from
drilling? The minimum figure I have heard was 1-2 million gallons
a day. So, where was I wrong?
Lets start with what you really claimed:
*** begin quote
Also, the original claim was that it would save Millions (plural!)
of barrels A DAY!
And it was then repeated for several days... by both the worshipful
press, the Obama campaign, and BY OBAMA HIMSELF!
It is called, sticking your foot in your mouth, and chewing...
*** end quote
This is copied and pasted from you earlier posting. Notice that you
are asserting that Obama said Millions of barrels A DAY. I posted
the link to what he really said and those links proven that this was
wrong. He never made such a claim.
Now you are backing away from that quote so now we can look at what
you are now saying.
As I have pointed out repeatedly, Obama did not put a time frame on
it. Taking a time frame of from the date of the speech until the
the date of the last barrel being pumped is a reasonable time frame.
The US uses about 10 million barrels a day making fuel for autos. A
1% change is 100K barrels per day. The oil will take about ten
years to be brought on line and will be pumped for about 20 so we
are talking a 30 year time frame.
100K * 365.25 * 30 = 1096 Million barrels of oil
For the other side of the comparison, you have to figure out the
amount of oil that will be produced by the drilling that McCain was
talking about. Obama is, after all, responding to the McCain
drilling plan and used the words "they" and "he".
This means that you can't take the total estimate of the offshore
oil supply. You have to only take the areas McCain is talking about
drilling. Which basically comes down to the Gulf of Mexico and off
the New Jersey shore plus a little off Florida. The west coast and
much of the east have way too many marine based industries that they
would not want to put at risk.
You also have to work with an oil company estimate of the amount of
oil. If you ask anyone in the oil business they will tell you that
estimates from people in the oil business are usually off by a
factor of 10 and almost always in the unwanted direction.
*** here is your quote again
Also, the original claim was that it would save Millions (plural!) of
barrels A DAY!
And it was then repeated for several days... by both the worshipful
press, the Obama campaign, and BY OBAMA HIMSELF!
It is called, sticking your foot in your mouth, and chewing...

Yep, another revisionist history statement - He really didn't MEAN
what he said, and what his aides said, and what the media said he
said, No, he meant OVER A LONG TERM and only a subset that had
SPECIFICALLY BEEN MENTIONED by McCain, and other fudging factors.
Not revisionist history. It is the actual history. I invite others
to go listen to what he actually said.

mention that Senator Obama a couple of days ago said that we ought to all

Association strongly recommends it, but I also don?t think that that?s a

Obama had noted that keeping tires should be part of any
comprehensive plan to reduce reliance on imported oil.
In mocking Obama, McCain said at a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South

he wants you to inflate your tires.?
