"IT'S not your imagination. This is shaping up to be
Brisbane's coldest winter in years with minimum temperatures
about four degrees below average.
So far this August Brisbane has averaged 7.4 degrees in the
morning compared with 11.4 degrees at the same time last year.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecast Vikash Prasad said the
long term average for August was about 10 degrees.

All this GW *** reminds me of the Y2K craze.
Keep throwing out predictions and you are bound to get SOMETHING
right.
Yes because no one did anything about the Y2K thing, it fixed
itself.
The thing you flatheaded ignoramuses forget is that it only looks
like it was overblown because PEOPLE FIXED IT.
People, that unlike yourselves, had the brains and drive to fix a
problem, instead of armchair quarterbacking on the 'net.
Idiots.
I remember all the BS hype.
It was a win win situation for the alarmists.
If something did happen, well, they told us so, and if nothing
happened, it was because they saved us.
Same thing now.
Huh? So you're saying that everything was fine and no sort of
planning/alterations should have taken place...?
Almost zero in PC based IT.
It was large corporate programmes running on ancient mainframes that
had never bothered with the first 2 digits of the year that needed
re-writing. A pretty simple fix really.

Which is still not a total negation of certain potential problems. Sure
some people went nuts over it, but in large part because the media spread
ignroance rather than information. The error was not that a problem was
perceived, the error was that the media preferentially spread and
amplified the rambling of people who didn't have any clue at all as to
what they were blithering about.
Reporting can only be as good as the reporter.
