Nonsense! Here is what you actually said

Also, the original claim was that it would save Millions (plural!) of
barrels A DAY!
And it was then repeated for several days... by both the worshipful
press, the Obama campaign, and BY OBAMA HIMSELF!

This claim made by you is simply false. You are asserting that Obama
said something that he simply did not say. There is no "spin
doctoring" in pointing out that you were misstating the facts.
I probably could take valuable time going to all the news websites,
and find various folks who did this.
You could take the time but will you actually find any sites to
support your false claim above?
One of the best was on the Rush
Limbaugh site, but you hve to pay to use it, and I don't waste money
that way.
The fact that you are a Limbaugh fan explains a lot. His program is
not news BTW.
I shall conclude by just laughing at your gullibility (or
false belief) and continue on my way!
I figured you'd bail out eventually. Your claim was false and you
simply will never admit it.
Ken, Please give us YOUR spin on what Obama-mouth says here...

I posted a link to that same section of video myself and part of
proving that Obama did not say what Charlie claimed he said. The
video does not support Charlie's claim but I will respond to it as it
is. I will freely admit to applying spin as does the site you
posted. The site also contains a lie by implication that I will point
out when I come to it.
What Charlie claimed can be found above and you can verify for your
own entertainment that he was wrong.
*** quote from site ***
Er, no it couldn’t. The Green River oil shale formation could produce
at least 800 billion barrels of oil alone, enough for over 100 years
at our current rate of consumption (20 million barrels per day).
Would inflating our tires eliminate every single drop of oil we use?
Of course not! Nor would it save any significant amount at all. Tire
inflation could improve gas mileage by about 3%, which would relate to
about 600,000 barrels of oil a day at the most absurdly optimistic
extrapolation.
****
I have been using the estimate of 100K barrels a day of savings. This
is a low end estimate based on a 1% that James Arthur said was more
reasonable than the 3% found in many other places. Using the 100 year
time frame and multiplying it out, we get a 3.7 billion barrel
result. Now to the other side of the comparison: The other side is
what *they* are talking about getting from *drilling*.
Here is a site that talks about oil shale:http://ostseis.anl.gov/guide/oilshale/index.cfm
The only way that oil shale could be considered part of drilling is if
we assume that the in place retort method of recovery is used. This
method doesn't work very well and only produces a fraction of the
total oil. At 800 billion barrels it still sounds like a reasonable
way to go until you consider the huge amount of energy and huger
amount of water you need to bring to the game to get the oil out.
Given where the Green River is, this isn't going to happen. This is
the lie by implication I referred to.
The "they" in Obama's quote is the McCain campaign. McCain has wisely
avoided talking about oil shale and spoken instead of drilling off the
coast. This is the "drilling" in Obama's quote. If we consider what
McCain has said this will be leaving it up to the states whether or
not to drill. If he is good to his word, we should ask what states
will allow drilling. These are New Jersey, Florida and Texas. The
gulf area has already been heavily drilled and there are lots sites in
it that the oil companies have the right to drill on but haven't yet.
The only really new reserves that will be brought in by this is off
the east coast of Florida. If you want to find good figures for your
side of the argument, I suggest you google around and find some
figures for there.
We know that there are many coastal areas that the oil companies are
paying every year for the right to drill on but have elected not to
drill. The reasons for this may be many but don't matter for the
following.
The situation the oil companies are in is very like my orange tree.
There must be 20 oranges on that tree that are ripe. I may go pick
and eat one today. If there were 40 oranges, I would not eat two of
them. The resource is larger than I wish to recover that this time.
McCain is talking about giving the companies the right to drill on
more areas. He is not talking about forcing them to drill. Such a
law as suggested but McCain did not support. Since the oil companies
already have resources larger than they choose to recover, we can not
assume that merely adding more resources will increase the oil supply
at all. McCain's suggestion about drilling will produce no oil at all
so any positive number of barrels saved by any action Obama suggests
will be greater than that number. Thus it is proven even without
doing math that Obama was in fact correct by a factor of 3.7 to none.
Now hook a good generator to that an power up your house. :)- Hide quoted text -

Additional fact: all the marine drilling rigs and crews capably
trained to run them are booked right now. Building and training new
resources will nto happen overnight. Bringin a well into will take
years more.
Conservation, whether through proper vehicle maintenance or nudging
the setting on the AC control, can start today.
