That was the best political speech I've ever heard. It was brilliant.

I think if you're a Republican (and voting for McCain anyway), that
speech was a hit.
So, no added votes there.

If you're a former Hillary supporter, that speech had nothing to do
with Hillary's value (or even women's values). So, no added votes
there either.

If you're a Democrat, that speech, as sarcastic as it was, will just
fuel the flames that Palin is not ready for prime time. If one took
that same sarcastic approach with our allies (and even our enemies to
the extent the Republicans would ever engage in meaningful discussion
with them anyway?), it is clear to me that she'll just piss them off.

No, I'm an independent(but lean republican because it's the much more sane
of the two) and I think it was sarcastic to some degree. It was sarcastic
and almost factually true. It's used to be called wit but any time it's used
against a democrat it's called sarcasm.

What made it work was not that it was "sarcastic" but that it was true.

Democrats expect that their guys can beat up on the other guy and the other
guy isn't suppose to fight back... if that guy does, and then goes on to
beat the living *** out of their guy they call for disqualification based
on use of excessive force.

Palin and Juliani took the democratic party's crap that they have been
dishing out the last year and made them eat it.

I don't expect any democrat to see it that way though because they are
extremely biased and will just see it as attacks instead of the real meat
that was expressed.

I do agree that it was risky to do that and that it probably will only
polarize the voters but it's nice to see the democratic machine get a taste
of it's own medicine and in a direct way instead of the covert way that they
do it.

Those attacks were framed in such a way that they made obama look like a
moron and shows the overwheling ignorance on the left about the issues.
(assuming most of the stuff was true, which since it's well know issues it
is)

Obama the community organizer now running for president! That is an outright
attack in your opinion? sarcastic? Maybe... but if it was "McCain the POW
for president" then it's ok!

Your double standard is ridiculous.... but of course that is your tactic to
win. Try and get the other team to play without any football gear so you
have a better chance of winning.

===
Nothing in her speech, attitude, or composure made me think she's a
leader.
Rather, I got the distinct impression that as long as she's in a
position of power, she'll force her ideology on anyone within
earshot. I think we've had enough of that.
-----

This is ridiculous and shows your innane bias. (Which of course is well
documented by your other posts)

You want substance? If she gave you exactly what she was going to do(Which
she did just as much as obama) you would be complaining about something
else.

The fact that she stood up on that stage and gave a speech in a way just
like an "old pro" shows she has something. All the facts that she mentioned
about her being government and mayor attest to much more than "community
organizer", small time lawyer, and "senator that is present 150" times.

But of course it stings doesn it!?! But continue to ignore the truth over
fluff.

Didn't you claim that you didn't like the right because of there
anti-science like views? If so then how bout you actually get a decent
candidate that is truely intellectual(And not just fluff) with a scientific
background? ...and why are you voting for a rockstar then? Shouldn't you too
be dissatisified with the left? Surely there are some real scientists that
can run and actually do something good for this country? Maybe this is
someone I can vote for..

As a "scientist" you should know that the current democratic platform is
completely unrelalistic and unsusstainable and would then vote republican by
default. (or better yet, design an campaign and a system to win and improve
this country in the way it should be)

As for McCain's POW stay at the Hanoi Hilton - I really wish the
Republicans would drop that.
IT HAS NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on whether he'd be a good President.
Not to mention, the whole damn mess was yet another war the US should
not have been involved with.
---

And I'm tired of this *** about obama getting a free ride just because he's
black. IT HAS NO BEARING WHATSOEVER!!!!

At least the POW issue points to character... what does Obama have to point
to his character? Associations with criminals, terrorists, and racists!

Surely has a scientific thinker you do realize the nature of evolution and
extrapolation? Surely history matters?

What bearing does palins children have on her being VP?

Being a POW qualifies McCain just as much as obama being black. (and note
that I don't mean qualify as somehow as if it determines it)

I'll take substance and sound judgement over meaningless sarcasm and
"experience" anytime. Particularly bad experience. -mpm
------

Then why are you voting for obama?

I've not seen any substance! I've not seen any sound judgement! He's a pawn
made to play to narcissists like you. I vote for the best choice(even if
both suck) and obama is all about hope and has nothing to support that
hope... which is empty hope... which isn't hope at all.

If you really are a critical thinker you would be just as dissatisifed with
obama(and the democrats in general) and would be voting independent.

McCain has substance... McCain has better judgement than Obama. I have seen
virtually nothing from Obama that would make me believe he has enough common
sense to see the true consequences of his beliefs. Sure he seems like a
decent guy(for the most part... but something does seem fishy with him) and
on the surface he seems like a thinker. But I've seen that *** before...
it's the same old liberal *** that colleges try to brainwash there students
with. He talks about these high and lofty goals and about hope and change
and how america can be great but what he will do to get there are things
that ultimately will lead to it's complete obliteration.

I disagree with republicans on so many issues that I should be a liberal but
the "liberal left" are just a bunch of lunitics and I'd rather associate
myself with someone who won't lead this country to distruction. Now I don't
truely know what obama will do and maybe he can maket his country great...
but the logical consequences of many of the left's beliefs are contraditory
to such things and so I'd rather not place my life in the hands of someone
who talks great but has those some beliefs that just won't work...

Now I'll have toadmit that neither side offers anything that I like except
that the right gives much more potential for a better economy and society.
The reason why we are here in the first place is mainly because of the
left's(probably 70-80%) crap that they have done over the last 40-50 years.

If your a democrat cause your a moron then I guess thats your destiny. If
your a democrat cause you hate christians then your a moron. If yoru a
democrat cause the GOP is a party of a bunch of white guys then your a
moron.... in fact, to make it short, if your a democrat then your a moron!

I'm a "liberal" but I'm about as far away as the liberals as I can get. My
liberalism is very similar to the left and I do have such hope that Obama
talks about but I do not let my liberalism get into the way of my scientific
thinking and objectism. I know that my liberal views don't work in
reality(at least in a reality that we live in called the US in 2008) and
that the lesser of two evils are what the conservatives offer. Sure I don't
like most of there crap but for some reason they got some things right.

In fact it would be nice to have an intellegent based conversation on the
real issues of liberalism so I might determine some way to reconcile it's
issues with reality but I'm not going to find any intelligent and objective
conversations from you. (according to your previous posts.. which is all I
know about you)

What I will tell you, and I know it won't do any good, is that your concepts
of liberalism is an illusion and you are only hurting humanity by such
ill-thought out beliefs. Now I can say the exact same to a republican except
there beliefs don't ruin humanity... or at least nearly as quickly.

[In some sense liberals are so quick to reach the utopia that they either
don't realize that utopia doesn't exist or that it must be reached slowly...
almost quasistatically. Now ofcourse I don't know what quasistatically as it
could be what is happening now but coupled with factual evidence of
america(and humanity in general) and the state it is now it seems that it
isn't.]

In any case I don't expect you to read anything I have said. I'm sure after
the first thing that points to me disagreeing with your views you will
either skip to the end and write some commentary about how I suck and I'm
ignorant or see what I have wrote through your rosy colered glasses of bias
and subjectivism.
