Any suggestions?

Express PCB has a free schematic drawing program.
Its output is designed to be used in tandem with their PCB layout
program.

But you can still use it, even if you don't buy circuit boards.

Boy, are there any that just let you DRAW circuits, without having to
enter detailed parts and footprints in a library,

What point is there to creating a "drawing" of a schematic if it won't
netlist??

and aren't packaged
around creating a layout?

It's not necessary to assign "packages" if you're not going to
automatically compare to a layout.

I've been looking for a good tool like that to
help with creating slides FOR YEARS

I like (and use) the old original MicroSim PSpice Schematics. Been
using it since it first appeared, gawd knows how many years now, to
make ASIC's... no problems.

It was the first simulation software that you could run on your
abacus. ;-)

Yes! I was the first to do difference equations on an Abacus ;-)

You only designed the first abacus because you were tired of people
walking on your designs that were done with dirt and a sharp stick. ;-)

....dirt and sharp stick is modern. I started with chisel and stone
;-)
