I was offered out of the blue (sort of - it was based on my expertise in

at the syntax of the source code code and ran a mile almost. Probably a
seriously missed opportunity. I could be be a C++++++ Guru by now !
'C' was invented purely to impress gullible management and use LOTS of RAM
and CPU overhead.
Actually the opposite is true. The original "C" and compiler were the
damndest byte squeezing memory parsimonious thing yet created. It was
often just as tight as hand crafted assembler. It is ANSI "C" and
C++ that are the space pigs.
compilers are bigger, output is still about the same size for similar
input code.
Not really, the included libraries are noticeably fatter.
