I use scoring in Xnews - I think followups inherit the scores also, so
replies are killfiled.
I thought Agent could use regex.. or did I hear wrong?
I wish I could convince the Agent software team to include
NewsProxy-like filtering within Agent, but they don't seem to
understand the methodology or need.
I'm using ForteInc as a newsfeed and I find they killfile a lot of spam
for me before it gets to their servers. I once pondered the possibility
of running my own Linux-based newsproxy that could auto-get/killfile
according to a whitelist/blacklist of headers, but never got around to
it. If you hear of anyone that's got a good guide, I may still progress
once I've rebuilt my server.
"suck" is is a program that can feed a local news proxy via an ordinary
remote nntp user account it has some killfiling capabilities.
inn is a good news server. (except you may have to recompile to turn
off the annoying quote limit on long messages)
sn is not so good - it does not handle cross-posts neatly.
I also tried leafnode, but found it to be annoying.
